For Adults

I teach writing workshops at The Attic Institute, recently named one of the best independent writing centers in the United States by Bustle.com, who said, "...the Attic Institute’s courses are famous for their quality and their power to motivate independent writers."

I’ve also taught at conferences including the Pacific Northwest Children’s Book Conference, the Oregon Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and Summer in Words, as well as for private groups interested in exploring a particular subject in depth. Contact me if you’d like to arrange a meeting with your group.

“Emily’s character creating workshop was exceptional. I’ve taken a lot of these kinds of classes, but this was one of the best I’ve attended, very useful with techniques I will use right away.”

“Emily was a kind and marvelous and creative facilitator.”

“She keeps expanding concepts that I’m beginning to understand. Entertaining, filled with colorful examples.”

“You were a highpoint of the conference for me. Thank you again for the creative prompts and introducing the thrill of editing. Your teaching got past the gatekeeper in my head, and that means I’m onto something exciting, illuminating, and a little harrowing. But as a writer and reader, that’s the only part I care about anyway.”

“Emily is now in my pantheon of personal goddesses.”
